For your calendaring consideration

Please join Tom Yamachika, president of the Tax Foundation of Hawaii, and me, for the foundation’s annual membership conference. You won’t even have to drive anywhere, it’s virtual, from noon to 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 6. It’s open to both TFH members and the public. It’s also free, though donations are welcome. I’ll be the keynote speaker.

To register, go here.

TFH has long been one of Hawaii’s most diligent watchdog organizations and a significant resource for business owners and leaders who want to know how tax policies will affect them.

I’ve cited Yamachika’s weekly commentary often in this column, and that is just one of the organization’s ongoing activities. It helps people track legislation, offers guides to tax laws, issues technical reports and white papers on policy and files amicus briefs for lawsuits on some of the biggest issues we face, such as Honolulu’s rail project.
