What the Legislature did, and left over, in its on and off again session (Talking Tax)

It’s hard to say this was a good session. The host for this episode is Jay Fidell. The guest for this episode is Tom Yamachika. Among other bills, Tom will talk about the bill, recently passed, to conform Hawaii tax laws to the federal changes. It’s notable not only for what it contains, but how it got to be that way. The Department of Taxation decided unilaterally that we would conform to specific provisions and decouple from others. The Legislature just went along with it in the absence of public input.
