OHA LLCs Held Subject to Public Records Law Transparency

In a Minute Order filed in First Circuit Court today, Judge Jeff Crabtree held that three LLCs wholly owned by the Office of Hawaiian Affairs were government entities for purposes of the State open records laws.

Although the Minute Order provides a clear decision and a fairly detailed explanation of the judge’s reasoning, the judge left it to the parties’ attorneys to work out a final order.

The Tax Foundation of Hawaii supported the position that Judge Crabtree adopted in his order.
